North America Materials Education Symposium

Collaborate, Innovate, Educate: Building the Future of MSE Together

Pre-Symposium Workshops: August 4, 2025 | Symposium: August 5-6, 2025

Georgia Institute of Technology

The North America Materials Education Symposium Scientific Committee and Ansys Academic Development Team are bringing 14th North American Materials Education Symposium (NAMES 2025) to the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, from Tuesday August 5th to Wednesday August 6th, with workshops on Monday August 4th, 2025. This event is a unique opportunity for the Materials Education community to come together for two days of talks, networking, and interactive sessions. Come and share in the latest best practice, ideas, and tools relating to the teaching of materials.

Symposium Overview

The symposia series will keep its spirit fostering an atmosphere of community amongst educators involved in undergraduate and other materials education across disciplines, including engineering, design, science, and sustainability. This symposium has the role:

  • To share ideas, innovations, experiences, successes and failures.
  • To provoke productive discussion around these issues.
  • To expand the links that form such a key feature of the Materials Community.

2025 NAMES Banquet

August 5, 2025 | 6-9PM | Center for Puppetry Arts
Bus transportation provided (Location is 1.5 miles from GT Hotel)

This year’s banquet invites you to discover the unexpected intersection of materials engineering and the art of puppetry. From the acoustic tiles and stage lighting of a performance space to the textiles, polymers, and mechanical elements that bring puppets to life, materials play a vital role in shaping how stories are told and cultural histories preserved.
Join us at the Center for Puppetry Arts Museum for an evening that celebrates NAMES and the imaginative potential of materials in motion. Attendees will enjoy a unique opportunity to explore the museum’s world-class collection, learn about the diverse materials that make puppetry possible, and even create their own puppet to take home.
Founded in 1978, the Center for Puppetry Arts is a beloved cultural institution dedicated to education, innovation, and creativity through the global art of puppetry. Through performances, workshops, exhibitions, and outreach, the Center continues to inspire audiences of all ages. Come celebrate with us and see materials engineering in a whole new light.

Open for Abstract Submissions

Deadline for talks and posters: April 15, 2025 June 15, 2025

Please note that only abstracts (not papers) are necessary for submission.
